MARI BER-CAROUSELL CAMPAIGN
ENCOURAGES MALAYSIANS TO DECLUTTER
FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON
Carousell’s Raya Campaign aims to create a new tradition of decluttering for Hari Raya
Lists of best Ramadhan Bazaars on the platform

Carousell, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing classifieds marketplace, kicked off the Raya season with its Mari Beri-Carousell digital campaign with a videofeaturing local celebrities Aeril Zafrel and Wawa Zainal, encouraging Malaysians to declutter on Carousell this Ramadhan.

With Hari Raya Aidilfitri less than a month away, families across Malaysia have begun fasting and decluttering their homes in preparation for the upcoming celebrations. They can sell their unused items via Carousell and earn money to ease festive expenditure or give out as duit raya.

This decluttering exercise during Hari Raya is more than just a regular clean-up. It creates an opportunity for family members to forge a better relationship, as well as to sell and earn extra income to reduce household expenses this festive season. We hope that more Malaysians will start decluttering through Carousell as an annual tradition,” said Tang Siew Wai, Country Head of Carousell Malaysia.

Carousell has also launched its Eid’s Raya Bonanza Party in conjunction with its campaign where Malaysians can list and sell unwanted and unused items, and stand to win amazing prizes.

Eid’s Raya Home Bonanza (Furniture & Home Appliances): 13 May 2019 - 19 May 2019
Eid’s Raya Phone Bonanza (Gadgets): 20 May 2019 - 2 June 2019

The season is also an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs. A top Carouseller since 2014, Iylia Insyirah, founder of home-grown fashion brand, Lily&Orkid, launched her special Hari Raya collection for Women on the platform. Her designs, inspired by the traditional Malay kebaya with a modern twist, are among the most popular buys during this season. It was launched on Carousell in April 2019, and sold out its Ramelah Kebaya and Skirt series in less than a month.

“Iylia is one of many young Malaysians who began selling pre-loved clothes on Carousell and over the years launched her own fashion label. The success of her designs is a testament to the strong community support towards local entrepreneurs, be it part-time or full-time. We will continue to support these Carousellers by giving them opportunities to earn more,” added Siew Wai.

Carousell community members will also gain more value as Carousell has published the top 10 recommended Ramadhan Bazaars in Klang Valley and this  will help Carousellers to enjoy the holy month to the fullest.
